Our team recently completed a slate roof replacement on a traditional 19th century sandstone property on Hamilton Drive, located just off Great Western Road in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.

The building’s original slate roof was believed to be over 100 years old, with many of the slates and lead details reaching the end of their serviceable life. Due to the age and condition of the roofing system, a complete slate roof replacement was required to ensure the property remained fully weatherproof.

The works involved carefully removing the existing roof covering and installing a new natural slate roof, maintaining the traditional appearance of the property while improving the long-term durability of the roof.

As part of the project, new lead valleys were installed, along with associated roofing details to ensure proper drainage and weather protection. Additional repairs were also carried out to the sandstone masonry and lime mortar,
